How Much Water Do I Put in a Crock Pot When Making Boneless Skinless Chicken?
I have a pretty big crock pot and I want to make boneless skinless chicken. The chicken does not take up the same amount of room a roast would. Do I still cover everything I am putting in there like I am making a stew?

if it is a whole chicken and you are putting in veggies etc., then cover the bird with water and do not let it boil away. keep it covered.

Use only one cup of water, as the recipe above shows. The STEAM from one cup and water and juices from the chicken and veggies cook the contents–not the water. Cover the chicken and you will have soup–not boneless chicken.

I would cover the chicken pieces with liquid for even cooking.

If you are adding something like canned veggies, you don’t need anything extra. I recently added a stick of butter to chicken breasts in my crock pot and nothing else. They were so tender and delicious!

No, you don’t want to drown everything.
This is just another way of cooking chicken, instead of roasting it or cooking it on the stove top. We have several recipes and the amount of liquid ranges from 2 tablespoons to 1 cup. Also, the chicken is not directly on the bottom, it is usually put on a bed of potatoes or vegetables.
Here’s a good recipe for Greek chicken cooked in a slow cooker: http://www.chicken.ca/DefaultSite/index.aspx?ArticleID=3356&lang=en-CA
We have more on our site, ranging from stew, to chili and some others that are dry cooked in a slow cooker. For hundreds of great chicken recipes, food safety tips, food handling tips and loads more visit http://www.chicken.ca.
Hope this helps.
