How Long Would I Cook 8 Chicken Breasts in a Crock Pot?
I have a party tomorow and I am making shredded chicken tacos. I have never made food for this many people (20) and I want to make sure it turns out. I made it two nights ago with 2 chicken breasts, I cooked it on low for 8 1/2 hours and it turned out awesome. I need to cook it on low since I am putting it in at midnight, is it generally the same cook time even when cooking more chicken? I am not a very experience crock cooker, this is only my second time actually using it. thanks

You would cook 8 chicken breasts on low for 8 hours in a slow cooker. I make chicken tacos a lot, and this is how I do it. You can cook it for 4 hours on high if your pinched for time. It will still turn out fine. Most generally, chicken breast will always come out tender, as long as there is enough moisture.
It also works for beef, for shredded beef tacos and taquitos. Pork, too!
You can slow cook just about any type of meat or poultry in a slow cooker. It is the best way to make a one pot dinner.
Just put all your ingredients (meat, seasonings, etc) [except veggies] into the slow cooker in the morning, add water to cover and turn on low. About an hour and a half before serving, add your veggies. (you may want to dip out some of the liquid to make room). If you do dip out some of the liquid, save it for later use by freezing. It makes a great soup base!
Serve your meal with some type of bread or crackers and enjoy!
I apologize for putting in so much advise … I use my slow cooker quite a bit, as I am the mother of 5 and a wife! It saves me a lot of time with meal prep.

Actually, you are correct. The amount of time would be the same for 2 or 8 chicken breasts when cooking with a Crock Pot.
You could actually go as much as 9-10 hours on low with that many breasts though, just to be sure they get fully cooked.
Also, about every 3 hours or so, rearrange the breasts for even cooking.
Since you’re going to shred the chicken anyway, it won’t make that much difference if you cook them a little longer…much better than under-cooking them.
After about 8 hours, you could take one out and cut into the thickest part of one of the breasts to make sure the liquid is clear and not blood red or pink.
Just be sure to keep it covered the entire time so you don’t lose heat.
Don’t forget to season them with SALT/PEPPER.
The only time the number of items might extend the cooking time is if you use a regular, conventional oven where the "extra" pieces would act as heat magnets drawing the heat away from the other pieces and then would need more cooking time added.
Will that many chicken breasts fit in the crock pot?
I assume you’ve already made sure of that…and since they are boneless, they shouldn’t take up that much space anyway.

BTW:
along with the Tacos, you could also get some flour tortilla’s and simply heat them up in a hot, non-stick skillet…put a tortilla in and after a minute or so turn it over and then stuff it and roll it like a burrito for a great alternative to the Taco.
Or, lay a few flat on some aluminum foil large enough to fold over and seal the edges…then into a 350 degree oven for about 10 minutes to get them warm.

The more you put in, the longer it takes, because it takes up for space. trust me, i love cooking. I would also suggest ,cooking it till not frozen, then shred it yourself, then cook it in the crock pot, it might not take as long, use low heat, add some flavor, try about 3 1/2 hours. Yeppers!

You might want to add a little bit more time but not much if it will all hold in your crock pot it should be fine at the 8 or 9 hours. put some water in there.

I was goin to say slow but you already beat me to it… any wayz cook them slow on low for about the same amount of time you cooked your other ones. It doesn’t matter how many are in there as long as they all fit.
